I look at maps of NY, and between the nabes that are still white ethnic, the nabes that are black and hispanic, the nabes that are new immigrant, and the nabes that are clearly dominated by yuppies with high incomes (financial sector, UWS, UES, brooklyn Heights, etc) I wonder how many could really be dominated by trust fund kiddies.

Maybe N williamsburg, a few blocks of bed stuy and Bushwick, and parts of the LES? And for sure, there are well paid people both in the arts/fashion/media and in more conventional fields living in those places as well.

Whats the true scope of this phenomenon - note I do not include some kid who is earning a living but the parents help with student loans, say.

I remember reading an article about this online somewhere.

Let me look for it and see if I can find it.

I really think Williamsburg(North Side) is the only neighborhood that comes even close to this (dominating a neighborhood) and even there it seems to be waning.Maybe a hipster culture will come to "dominate" part of Bushwick but Williamsburg North Side is being taken over by working yuppie types with strollers. It's not unemployed trust fund hipsters buying all those new condos.

Every single building in the Financial District is jam packed with "trust fund kids". They're all upscale college/post-college dorms.

I understand speculating about such things but how could it be anything but speculation?

Many people here routinely claim to know who is living off their parents, and to know that the entire shape and life of NYC has been changed by them. If they know it so well, I assume the could pin it down geographically, at least to some degree.

Assume + claim = more speculation

alternatively, if they CAN'T provide more geographical detail, perhaps it calls into question the earlier claims I cited above.
