Stuyvesant Town & Peter Cooper Village run from 14th Street to 23rd Street and from First Avenue to Avenue C.

Nice place --- almost like a suburb within the city. Love the Oval, love the walking paths throughout, love the various play areas for the kids. It's close to everything.

The rents are on-par with Manhattan rents and include electricity. They will even install an A/C for you and you only pay a small amount extra per month to cover the extra electricity cost.

I wish I could afford to live there!! A friend of mine had a place there and I used to stay there when they weren't in town. Great place.

For the link to work there is no "e" after lux

Also: From an insider:

Quote:
[Tishman] fired the old Met Life employees who knew the [Stuy Town] property well and had an affection for it. They were replaced by low priced incompetents. This was followed by a mass rental to college students who were disruptive and trashed the property - making weekends unbearable.

Shocker. When you play with fire (translation = college kids/guarantored kids) you get burned.
