I work independently for the nation's #1 health care and dental plan company and I wanted to hand out fliers in Manhattan. Are there any rules about that? I ask because there seems to be rules right down to the way a NYer breathes or they can be slapped with a ticket or have to pay a fine.

Considering that I see people handing out fliers for so-called psychics, I doubt there are any rules.

The question is, if you consider who hands out fliers on sidewalks - is that the best way to get clients? It wouldn't make a favorable impression on me.

I am going to have to agree with Cida. I also have experience handing out fliers, but I try to do it in toruisty spots cause most New Yorkers IF they even take your flier will probably just throw it away right after you hand it to them. Also Cida said that do you really think that is the best way to get clients? <-- again totally agree

If you really want to get peoples attention buy a bannana costume for $30 bucks and print some fliers. Go stand in a populated spot dancing and yelling a funny slogan to try and get people to come to you. WHEN they come to you then give them a flier.

Atleast that's what I would do.

Good Luck

No permit is needed to hand out flyers in NYC. However, if people take them then throw them to the ground you can be arrested and imprisoned. Suborning littering is a felony here.

If you put them on windshields you can be in for a world of hurt. It's a $75 per flyer fine

What's the name of this great compny u work for? Are they great enough to provide u with health care and dental? Handing out fliers is probably the lowest of the low jobs like handing out free papers in the subway. But at least people find some value in the paper unlike your stupid flyers.
