My friend received a letter today for an interview with HRA on July 21. Boy, is he lucky that they called him before DHS did.

I have also received a letter from HRA to interview on 7/21. Can you share any thoughts on what this means?

Well, you'll probably be in a room with 6 people or so and they will talk to you about what the job is about and your qualifications. But don't count on starting any time soon. From what I understand, city agencies are now starting a hiring pool for potential new employee's and actual appointment to the title might be far away. Don't forget - it comes down to Mayor Bloomberg and the OMB. A friend went to DCA and they told him this right up front.

Believe it or not - a lot of people did not show up today at HRA's interviews. They were hiring 27 new FI's. My friend declined appointment because he felt it was a lot of work and pressure for what they were paying. I told him to contact DCAS to have his name put back on the list and wait for DHS to call him.

Default Fraud Investigator list

The main reason this test was created is because the city employed hundreds of investigators provisionally years ago and are now are under pressure to convert the slots into permanent positions. Most of the positions will go to those who are already provisionally employed. If your friend was offered an HRA position he/she should have taken it. The job is not difficult at all and has a better starting salary than most. I have been with the city for many years and an AF1 for a decade. There are not many slots for those coming off the street. Trust me provisionals will be turned over. Those that did not pass the test will lose their jobs and be replaced by those coming off the street After that they will stop calling.

There seems to be some confusion about how the test scores were determined. The written exam only gets you in the door. Scoring at least a 70 allows your E & E information to be considered. Whether your written exam score was 100 or 70, everyone has a 70 going in to the E & E scoring. The rest of your score is based on an E & E point system. The date of application is used to determine the list number of those that received the same score.

I spoke to my friend who turned dow HRA. He went to a wedding last week. One of the guests turned out to be an FI in HRA. They had a conversation and after all was said and done, he was glad that he turned the job down.
