Nope that is not me in the video.

Trust me if you ever see me on the streets you will immediately be able to tell that I am definitely from the pre-gentrification/p*ssification era.

I am who I am and I am very proud of it.

If I could erase the past 10 years from my memory and wipe the slate clean and start over again I would.

That sucks, I used to go over there on my lunch break when I used to work in the area. The rent is too damn high all over NYC and nobody is doing anything about it.

I think that this city is the greatest city on earth but the tragedy here is that the people who live here do nothing to stop the prices from constantly going up. We should be all over Bloombergs butt until he puts some serious laws in place to stop greedy building owners from charging people outrageous rents both for commercial spaces and residential. A city cannot continue to be great if it is abandoned because nobody can afford to live in it!

i would say the city and state are also greedy with high property taxes. so even if a landlord wants to be "nice", he/she really "can't" cuz they need to keep pace. jmho

How ridiculous. The last I checked, New York City is located in the United States not communist Cuba.

Why should anyone stop the prices from going up when many people can afford it? Because you personally can't afford it? The landlords aren't greedy, they're smart. Why rent at bargain basement price in a city full of wealth and people willing to pay those high prices?

It's the simple law of supply & demand. The prices are high because New York is simply a very desirable place and people are willing to pay for it.

How ridiculous that you think this runaway train should not be stopped.
There is a much larger population of poor and middle class people in this city then there are rich people.......the poor and middle class outnumber the rich by 3-1. We are quickly approaching a situation where even the middle class can no longer afford to live here......if this happens NYC will lose a very large part of their population.....then where will the supply and demand be when there are only the very poor and the rich living here? The poor will continue to be concentrated in ghetto urban environments, while the rich will continue to be concentrated in lower and Midtown Manhattan......there will be a huge surplus of empty apartments, condos and homes for sale with no buyer because this city has sat back and allowed the middle class to be pushed out.....how many condos and homes do you think the rich will buy?

This scenario is already taking place....large populations of caucasians have moved into Brooklyn and Harlem which for decades were parts of this city that they would never live in....why? Because even with many of them being educated professionals with good jobs working in Manhattan they can no longer afford Manhattans rents or for sale properties.

If we get rid of the waste in this city, change the laws and realize that a city with no one living in it does none of us any good. Now we are loosing long time business's because the rents are too high......those business's are a big part of what makes this city a sought after place to live!

You are right the greed begins with the city and state government.....if they would lower property taxes to a fair price then landlords and property owners would not be in the position of charging outrageous prices.

Unfortunately no one cares about this until it affects them personally. When you start seeing business's closing because the rents are too high and upwardly mobile educated well paid Manhattan job holders moving to Harlem because their 6 figure incomes can no longer afford a Manhattan price tag there is a big problem in this city!

... ummm, have you heard about things called rent control & rent stabilization.

Supply & Demand went out the window a long time ago in New York.

Small business owners can sometimes afford to live here on account of paying rent from 1956, but they can't do the same on their commercial location.

NYC probably has more prohibitive laws than Cuba, which is still half shy of San Francisco.

as for the dancing chicken, he stood on a grate that jerked and swung around, i feel like i can remember seeing it - i was very young - even then i didnt like it....always a soft touch I was
