Not even the slightest chance. She is a family member to me. I would rather stay in my current apartment and deal with the hour and 10 minute commute to my new job.
I'm a "dog person" too! Just know that with that kind breed, your rental options are severly limited.
I looked up some doorman buildings I know of on the UES & UWS with studios under $1800 and this is some of the info posted re: dogs-->

Some of the places we saw in FiDi allowed large dogs and had no breed restrictions. However the cheapest studio we saw was $1800 and it was quite small.
I totally understand about the dog. My dog is like a child to me and I would never give him away. He's a golden retriever.
$2000 for a doorman studio is more realistic below 96th Street.
Actually, I just pulled up a site that listed about 50 buildings - many of which I'm familiar with or know people who live/lived there- under 96th Street with studios under $2,000. And more near the $1400-1700 range than the $1700-2000 range.

It really depends on the size of the studio. Mine is almost $2300 but it's 650 square feet. The ones we saw for $1800 were around 400 square feet, which is more like the traditional studio where you have one living area for sleeping, cooking/eating, etc. In my apartment the kitchen and dining area are separate, and we put up a pressurized wall that left us with a 13 x 11 bedroom and a 13 x 13.5 living room.

True, big studios cost more. I was pointing out that there are many studios under $2k in Manhattan to dispute pp's assertion that there aren't any. If you want to live in Mannattan badly enough- as I did in my early 20's, you find the best 300sf studio you can. Mine was gorgeous- had 2 huge windows overlooking a neighborhood park, great L-shaped layout so you couldn't see my bed the second you entered the place, big (well, NYC "big") bathroom with a tub & window, and 3 huge closets. I measured it once- a bit over 300sf, but it was good space and therefore functional & livable.

They're definitely out there. You just have to dig a little. There are also two different buildings on East 78/79 between York & East River and East 67th ( I think! ) betweejn 3rd/2nd where very safe, clean, nice walk-up studios are in the $1300-1600 range.

We can't post realty site links but I did a quick google and they came up on a well known realty group's site. I know the Broadway & 86th listing is in the ballpark because a friend of mine lives there.
