its not segregation EVERY TIME its also chain migration....for example Indians tend to move to jackson heights and Pakistanis tend to move to jamaica, southside jamaica, or Coney Island so they can be in an environment theyre used to...its not that ALL people are being forced to move to a certain area of the city
Of course. Nobody is being forced to move into a certain section. Many people, especially immigrants, prefer being "close to home", so they will move into their ethnic enclave. A sense of place and not feeling like an outsider.
I'm not an immigrant, but I prefer living in an area where I fit in better, like most people here who occasionally ask questions about about "I'm an X, is there a neighborhood that is predominantly X and safe? I would love to move back into the section of Williamsburg that I grew up in. Sentimental/nostalgic reasons and there of lots of people who share my same heritage, whether born abroad or here.

yep exactly, its a persons choice where to live in a certain city, if you ask me, i would pick the inner city over a suburb any day...does that mean im being segregated in a low income area?? of course not!

Most people would do the opposite. Choose land and quality of life over inner city living.
In some ways NYC's segregation was forced. Who's at the bottom of the income bracket? It ain't the Whites. Back when the NYCHA was first spitting out hell holes the idea was to stick the bulk of them in Latin/Black neighborhoods. Brownsville, South Bronx, Harlem, LES (at the time) for example. People will naturally try and stick to their own. Especially in NYC, a city of immigrants.

Yes education plays it's part. Thank god NYC has great schools (that was a joke).

Not all of them. Some CUNY's are okay like John Jay and Baruch. However, some aren't all that great like Bronx Community and Hostos.
NYU, I don't think it's that big a deal. No one really cared about it years ago. Then again, credits are credits. You do learn the same thing. Although you do gain hooks at certian "exclusive" schools.
