I did submitted all my paperwork for annual recertification at affordable lottery apartment. And saw one page which is stating about utility allowances and my maximum rent plus utility allowances. I have $57 allowance/monthly.What if my electric bill is more than $57.? Now it's summer. We using air condition. Somebody has experience or know how is that works at affordable/income based housing?

You haven't been getting the utility allowance before this? It's something new? How long have you lived in the apartment?

I'm living in this apartment since october, 2016. I read the lease, but did't found that page. It's was "discovered" when the management sent me this page to sign for the purpose of recertification. Has no experience on this before. Tried to find on the websites, but no answer.

How does a utility allowance work? How is such an allowance determined? A lot of these lottery apartments have newfangled expensive electric-powered heat and a/c that is probably too expensive for most low-income New Yorkers.

How do you know lily47 isn't a NYC working person? She has to be to qualify for the apartment.

I'm a working person. Want to give me some heavily subsidized housing? You know exactly what I mean.

I played for affordable apartments lottery for over 9 years. I paid the taxes, and still paying. In order to get those apartments, you has to have a very good credit history and stable income, plus clean background and no court issues like eviction or unpaid debit. Maybe, you have some issues with that, or if not, than play, play and play.. Don't blame other people for something that is YOUR responsibility, not others.
