I say raise the top pay for an NYPD police officer to at least $125,000. That would be a decent top pay with the cities living cost. A middle class living.

I was on the 4 train last night, and some Police Academy students got on at 42nd Street. They talked with a lot of enthusiasm about their training; Kind of interesting, all that enthusiasm about $25,000 per year!
Well I can understand what happened. Bloomberg is one of the most sucessful businessmen in America. You don't get to be at the top of business without having excellent negotiating skills.
I'd be surprised if Bloomberg wasn't cleaning everyone's clocks when it came to the negotiating table.

The problem's he's creating will be felt when crime rises for whatever reason: a new drug, bad economy, whatever. The NYPD has lost too many veteran cops. These are the guys who can get guns off the street. These are th eguys who staff the Detective Bureau. With so many young cops quitting every yr for the last ten yrs, these assignments are getting short-staffed.
his idea is to flood the cops with rookie cops.. you know.. cannon fodder
