These specific parents (which did not infact represent a parents group) were sent there for a specific purpose, and were fed a story and did what they were told. It was purposeful and not some natural upswelling of revolt...it was a show put on and nothing more. They are puppets, and mindlessly doing what they were told..so yeah..I'll stick with my comment.

Cathie Black will step down at some point, for better or worse, but in the end, we have all lost because she was never given a chance at all. It became a waste of time, not because she was incapable, maybe she was...these groups made sure we never found out if she was capable or not. Nobody sees a problem with that?

That's a pretty convenient thing to say. I can say the exact same thing about anything that anybody does that is televised, including Bloomberg. More specifically, all the "supporters' that "showed up on their own" to support him at city hall during the term limits purchase when he was required to have a hearing about it that included input from the public.

Cathie Black may last out the mayor's term I think and not leave before that because she has Bloomberg's backing and, as someone said, a vice-chancellor who actually understands the nuts and bolts part of running the bureacuracy.

Still she is a lousy chancellor, and it ain't because she's a rich, white, Waspy lady who is (or isn't)stirring up the pot, and who sent her kids to private schools instead of PS whatever. Cathie Black has NO vision about education. None. And that's why she is a FAIL. Vision is what a leader needs: To set the tone for the big issues, chart new directions, and inspire the bureacrats and the citizenrythat great things are possible. You can always find someone else to do the day-to-day grind of running the schools. And they have. But leadership is about vision and its hard to get vision from a lapdog.

Not really. She represents the interest of the business community. They'll admire her grit in facing the comrades of the socialist republic of NYC.

Besides her purpose is very direct. It is to cut, cut, cut, the education budget! In the face of prolonged recession, her job, as defined by her boss, mayor Bloomberg, is keep the educational budget from bankruptinh the city!!!

Of course, in such a role she will be hated. It's to be expected. So far so good. Only her boss can fire her, and he never expected her to be popular.

In other words, Bloomberg only needed a reliable shill to go along with his pre-set agenda. It was never about improving education or "shaking things up".
And you would think that she would have more tact, being in the cumbersome corporate world for so long, to prevent herself from making bad jokes about NYC parents needing birth control. Because you know, the elite just love eugenics talk when it comes to colored people that make too many babies.

- there was a need for a person to come in and be the bad guy and she fit the bill - she was instantly hate-able because of "who she is", its classic bureaucratic misdirection: Give the people their straw man, and as they are busy getting mad, Bloomberg (or who ever is in charge) gets to do what they want - ain this case, to gut the school EVEN MORE, further plunging our kinds into serfdom - because if you can actually graduate from one of these failing behemoths called public school, good luck getting some Pell/Tap grants to go to a CUNY/SUNY. You better be prepared to take out enough student loans to keep you in debt till you retire / or have rich parents. There's almost no gray these days...

NY1 is reporting that she's out and will be succeeded by Dennis Walcott. Hmm ...

I will say that this happened a bit quicker than even I anticipated. And now the mayor will use this Walcott fella to open up and get on his knees.

Anyway mods, PM me all the info on the ins and outs on being a mod. We'll get the ball rolling as soon as possible.

SoBroGuy, your day of reckoning is upon us...
