What is the best/cheapest way from JFK airport to Rutherford, NJ (07070).

There are old folks in this group, so definitely bus, train, etc is all ruled out after a long international flight. So I guess the only option is drive.
There will be 5 passengers with 4 check-in bags and 1- carry-on bag.
I guess a minivan will be needed. correct? How much will it cost totally?
Any recommendations if you have used anybody in the past?

Thanks in advance.

A Train shouldn't be that hard for a group of seniors , you wouldn't be using the Subway , just the regional rail network. The Directions below should only take an hour to do. And should only cost 6-7 for the Seniors and 7-10$ for the regulars...... carrying or rolling that Luggage shouldn't be an issue if your doing it offpeak or non rush hr.

1. Take the Airtrain form the Terminals to Jamaica
2. @ Jamaica Switch to any Inbound train to Penn Station (Buy tickets for the LIRR in the station)
3. @ Penn Station switch to any Outbound NJT Train and take that to Secaucus JCT (Buy NJT tickets upstairs there are elevators to the concourse...groups do get discounts.
4. @ Secaucus JCT switch to the Lower Levels and take the Bergen County train to Rutherford.
5. The train drops you off in the Downtown

Lol I beg to differ ....4 check in bags means they're pretty big and/heavy and for senior citizens probably too much to be lugging around from train to train. Because its senior citizens they'll get tired a lot faster too rolling stuff around even if its not for very long. And like the OP said, after a long trip they'll likely be pretty tired and just want to get into a car and go. I know I'm like that after long trips lol

Expect a minivan or something to be around $100 give or take $10 including tip...I did this a few years ago when I lived in Lyndhurst and it was around that price. I've also done the mass transit way...fortunately all I had was a backpack on me...for me there was a lot of downtime waiting for the bus I had to take to Lyndhurst since it was a weekend.

Default The less strenous way without burining a hole in your pocket!

All,

I was searching through different to find the cheapest way to reach JFK from NJ and all I could find was time consuming and cheapest ways by changing different airtrains and which is only possible when u have 1-2 backpacks or cabins.

The solution suggested here may not apply for everyone and should be chosen at your own discretion.

Any taxi taken from NJ to JFK would cost between $100 -150 1 way depending on the city where u leave which might not be feasible for everyone.

Solution:

1. Take rental car from any location( which allows drop off at a different location). Now the catch here is most locations does not allow this or have a one time flat fee of $100 or less but you can check this with ur locality as some facilities do not charge for this.

2. If option 1 does not work for you, Take a rental car from a near by airport( this is what i did). All airports allow single drop offs with no additional charges although the ariport surcharges might be there with ard $10-12.

3. My Total charges:
Rental car charges from Newark Airport and drop off at JFK: $40 (Rental + surcharges) excluding coverages. Toll charge of $12 = $52.

Return Charges from JFK - Newark = $52

Total charges: $104 both ways including tolls(excluding additional coverages for rental vehicles)

Arrange for a limo pickup (usually called a CAR SERVICE)...lot's of services in Queens. Tell them how big you need it.
They will quote you a price. My guess $100.

Alternatively find a BIG cab at the airport...probably the same fee.
