I recently moved to upstate NY (Peekskill area) for a job offer... I have not met any friends of yet... I want to check out some bars/clubs in the city next weekend... Can anyone suggest any places where it wouldnt be uncomfortable walking in by myself? Thanks in advance.
Do you cheer for a particular hockey/ basketball/ baseball team? If so, find a bar where your home team's fans watch and go there to watch a game. You'll have something in common with other patrons and hopefully make easy conversation.
Or use meetup.com to find a pub crawl or wine tasting you could attend. Then you know everyone in your group is interested in meeting people.
If you are bold and courageous, you could walk into any bar alone in NYC and do just fine.
NYC has thousands of bars and clubs. Some are upscale, some downscale, some are yuppie hangouts, some are pretentious. There are English pubs, French Bistros, Irish pubs existing from long ago NYC, Irish emulating Irish pubs form Ireland, working class bars, hotel bars, college bars, hipster bars, commuter bars, the list goes on and on....
You can basically go into any bar by yourself, why because no one cares!!!!
I do it all the time.
