Me and 2 friends are planning moving to New York next year. We're from Dublin and live in the suburbs. I've been reading through a lot of the threads on this trying to find out some stuff...
We're looking to move to a nice area i.e. safe etc... And one with some decent transport networks and if it has a nightlife its a plus but we dont mind having to commute a bit for this either. We're all used to commuting and traffic from living here but we want good bus services/train services.
And we're easy on apartments or houses - we'll be renting either anyway.
Woodlawn, Bronx has one of the biggest, if not THE biggest, percentages of Irish (I'm pretty sure both immigrants and non-immigrants) in a NYC neighborhood. I suggest it strongly, especially if you enjoy getting hammered.
Well there's no place like Manhattan. Good restaurants and nightlife in any neighborhood, lots of apartments available (but of course you're talking about Manhattan prices) and lots of public transports all over.
Manhattan is also very safe. Percentage-wise, I think crime dropped about 80% over the past few years.
Im planning on moving to New York Sometime next year myself (A single girl from England)? Which seems impossible at the moment, can I ask which Visa you require if your planning on going over for a short period of time (Say 6 months to a Year to work and live temporarily)...?? And how you go about getting a job before you go..?? Im asking as you may have all this organised, and Ive been directed all over the place, and not a clue where to begin.
