The people (particularly, those who really rep NY). The places. The atmosphere. The diversity. The Food. It's where I grew up. I love it.

yes, the people, and the presence of NY itself-- hard to explain... the vibe, the beat, the life of it.
Until you leave it, you don't realize what people say about it- how there's no place like it. Faults about it and all, the good stuff is really true.

The diveristy, density, 24hour public transportation and walkability provides for alot of things....These four elements provides an atmosphere of spontenaiety, good food and endless possibilities.

Densest first world English-speaking city on the planet with people from all over. Also, it is probably one of the least boring places on the planet in terms of day to day life.

After work on Thursday I walked up Fifth Avenue and across the park. I met a friend for sushi and then over to Lincoln Center to see an opera (with free tickets). Afterwards I took the subway home. The whole evening cost me less than $20.

Anywhere else in the country that would have been a big (and rare) night out. In New York I can do it all the time.
