Hello,

I've been searching this forum for a little bit. I just got a job offer from an ad agency in Chelsea and they want me to move asap. Just graduated from college, so I won't be making a lot and therefore can't live in the city. Where would you guys recommend for a single girl, who might have to live by herself and won't be making too much? I've stuff on Craig's List that was uber cheap in Brooklyn and Harlem/Morningside Heights etc. And I know Brooklyn and H/MH are on the up and up. What would you guys recommend?

Thanks a lot!

I'm new to the city as well so others feel free to chime in, but I've heard good things about Jersey City, and it's very close to south Manhattan on the PATH.

what is the salary? Brooklyn is good, but it depends where. the uber cheap ones on craigslist are usually not great areas.
sometimes the process can be quick.
When I started looking, I found my place and signed the lease in under a week

another option for cheaper rent but safer areas, is to go in a share situation(take a room in a 3BR that has 2 other roomates, etc)

i have another question--though I know Harlem isn't the best area there seem to be really nice apartments on the 130s and up and Lenox. They have security etc. etc. Would you characterize these areas as the safer parts of Harlem?
