Mapping America ? Census Bureau 2005-9 American Community Survey - NYTimes.com
The area code you will use is 10455, and you can search a variety of maps like income distribution etc. You will note that you are adjacent to the highest median income tract of all census tracts south of the Cross Bronx Expressway ($53,000). Your district is lower because it encompasses housing projects, however your particular district, had it excluded those housing projects, would have been just as high because the housing and demographics are the same (excluding the housing projects a few blocks away of course). This area also has the highest or second highest percentage of homosexual couples in the entire city (if I recall correctly), but I don't know how accurate that is. If you walked the neighborhood you would never know anyone homosexual (flags and such) lived there.
This neighborhood is mostly new affordable housing as of the 90s, it is very green with beautiful adult tree lined streets and suburban feel. It is very quiet and neighbors are friendly and have been there for many many years...my godmother owns one of these homes she purchased in 1994 for $70,000 (if I recall correctly).
For the record you are in Woodstock, just a couple blocks from the landmarked Woodstock Library in fact...the exterior is distinct and one of the few remaining vestiges of the neighborhood's past. It was first called Woodstock in the mid 1800s because of the wooded nature of the area...hence the name of the library. It is now being returned back to that original feel with low density, suburban style homes and lots of trees in this particular area.
As of late (past 10 years) the city is now pushing the larger 5 story affordable housing developments a few blocks away in Melrose, however there are few lots remaining in Woodstock to accomodate such large affordable housing units, so there will likely be continued lower density suburban style homes built on the remaining small lots.
