Do you guys know if it cost to go to the beach in the winter? I don't want to swim just look out take some time to meditate. I was thinking Robert Moses. Are they even open in the winter?

If not do you recommend any other places for some relaxing outdoors area. Thats within 90 mins from manhattan driving. Preferably under a hr actually.

No sure about Robert Moses, but Manhattan Beach in Brooklyn would be a good bet. Nice area overall, quiet and more secluded. Nearby Brighton Beach Boardwalk is another option, and served by the B and Q train if taking mass transit is an option over a long drive. Hope we get some 50-60 degree weather for you so it's not freezing.

I've done the beach in the winter and it's pretty fun, though in a different way. It was 70 one year during Christmas and I went to Far Rockaway. I'd say don't expect to go swimming haha.

Riis Park is open and free and, I expect, very empty. Also freezing!

You can walk on Far Rock's boardwalk all year round. I might do it today.

Yes, Robert Moses and Jones Beach are open and free throughout the winter. There is a lighthouse/museum in Robert Moses that you can visit. They have special events for Christmas. Jones beach has a small marine/nature center (Theodore Roosevelt) and the annual seal walk on New Year's Day. You could also visit Long Beach for free during the winter months. Sometimes, you can spot seals off of the Long Island beaches, but only during the winter season.

The beach is open year around, just like the parks. The beach does get intresting during snowstorms.
