I need a recommendation for a modestly priced store that would sell skirts midcalf length for girls (size 8). All of the skirts I have seen where I live are shorter than knee length and we are going to some places on vacation that require knees to be covered. We will be staying in mid Manhattan before leaving on our trip. Can anyone help me with suggestions?

Do you mean little girl size 8 or women size 8? Have you looked in conservative stores like Lord & Taylor?

I mean little girl's size 8. We don't have Lord and Taylor where I live, is that what you would suggest? I was thinking maybe a more retro store would have them.

We’re heading in summer. That’s a tricky time to buy longer skirts, especially for girls. You could look at Orthodox Jewish clothing stores. They have to wear skirts below the knee.

Maybe the solution would be pants?

Do you know the names of any orthodox clothing stores? I guess we could use pants but it will be really hot so I was thinking a skirt would be cooler.

No, but I'm sure they exist, especially in Brooklyn. It's a specialized market and they don't advertise outside the community (and I'm neither Jewish nor a woman).

There are also a lot of options online. Google "modest clothing girls"

I looked online but very few stores will mail things to PR and those that do charge exorbitant shipping fees. I am leaving for NYC this week so won't have time at this point even if I found one that did since I will not be back before leaving. Thanks and rep to all anyway for trying to help!

If you don't mind a trip to Brooklyn, you could go to Junee for modest skirts that would be suitable. Store Locations | Junee | Modest Clothing for Women and Teens

The friend I asked also recommended a site from California, where they would be able to ship to NY, because they offer some more fashion-forward modest attire. Since you mentioned that it might be hot, there might be some lighter-weight options on their site. And, perhaps they could ship to you in NY, as opposed to home. Another place you might find something would be a school uniform store. I have never been to a Cookie's, but have seen them advertised as having a large uniform store, and one that's stocked year-round. There's a location in Downtown Brooklyn on Fulton Street, and a quick web search turned up three or four options for a long skirt, if the stores stock what they have online. I might call first to see if they have something you like in stock, but they might if it's from the uniform department. Cookie's - The School Uniform Specialists -
