Tragic...there seems to be an increase in building fires during the last year...This is excluding the illegal apts that have been in the news lately. Awful

None of this is news!

Bushwick has been burning for DECADES!

It generally has the most terrific fires. Old wood frame buildings, poor wiring, connected shared walls, connected attic areas (fires spread from building to building this way), ignorant residents, equals inordinate fire danger.

Again, been this way for decades.

Staffing of the FDNY will have little bearing on the dangers of Bushwick.

Tragic, perhaps. News? Not in the least.

The only difference going forward than in the past is that it may be a few white Transplants getting their asses burnt up, along with usual brown people.

Nnexxxttt....

Welcome to NYC.

Death house an illegal SRO
The Brooklyn building where two men died in a devastating fire was an illegal SRO run like a flophouse for vagrants, officials and neighbors said yesterday.
As many as 10 people were living in the three-story building -- legally a duplex -- at 16 Covert St. in Bushwick. Records show that the city responded to complaints in 2010, but officials were denied access.

Illegal Brooklyn boarding house went up in flames after hot plate sparked blaze
As many as 10 people were renting rooms in an illegal Brooklyn boarding house where two men died in a raging inferno - one by plunging out of a window after a ladder was too short to reach him, residents said.

Looks like they were more to this story then just some fire.
