Hi guys, I've been posting on this website off and on and reading topics that are posted here for advice and whatnot. My roommate, who is awesome, is moving out June 1st/or 2nd and I need to find another roommate. I posted on Craigslist twice, but it's a little discouraging. I've met 3 people and they all seem nice, but the person I liked the best said she's probably only staying in NYC for 2 more months. I thought about expanding my options by asking if someone on here might be interested in the room, or coming by to see it. I get a little nervous when I see threads that say, my roommate walked out without paying the rent, etc. I'll post my Craigslist ad on here, and if anyone is interested in looking at the place, send me a message and let me know!

Huge, Fully Furnished, Sunny room (http://newyork.craigslist.org/que/roo/2395599184.html - broken link)

if the person has a blog or a facebook account ask if you can see it to see if they're a 'party person' or drama's their middle name or what they're 'into'

Ha ha it was a little ironic I saw a woman who was an actress and she said she is "drama-free." What is acting if not drama? I'm a huge nerd myself, I love dinosaurs, sleeping, working out, reading, the usual stuff.

I will tell you that you are likely to get more of a response if you post pictures of your apartment in the ad. In the day and age of immediate digital photos, people expect that, and tend to move right past the post if there are no pictures. In fact when I used to use craiglist, I would check of the box to limit my search results to those with photos.

Don't start with Hi or end with that makes it seem like a scam. Maybe doing your post in bullet points will get more hits.

Also, put pictures! Talk about the kitchen and bathroom situation. Do you have a dishwasher? Is there laundry in the building?

Thanks guys, these are great suggestions, sometimes I'm not really sure when I'm posting how to attract people to my posting, I'll definitely add pictures, but the one picture I have of my roommates room, the bed isn't made, should I retake a picture of her room? I'm going to post another ad soon, do you guys have any other suggestions?

Honestly, I just did the whole apartment search thing, and all the pictures I saw on CL where of pig stye apartments. Even the apartment I ended up taking was REALLY cluttered when I viewed it.

Here's the revamp I did of the ad posting, based on everyone's suggestions, I'm wondering if it looks ok:
Large, Sunlit room in a quiet neighborhood (http://newyork.craigslist.org/que/roo/2399034935.html - broken link)

and here's the one my boyfriend posted in Korean:
ºÎµ¿»ê > ·»Æ®ÇÕ´Ï´Ù > Queens > ·ë¸ÞÀÌÆ® :: HeyKorean ¸¶ÄÏÇ÷¹À̽º

I think it looks way better thanks to everyone's suggestions

I think that looks great. I would respond if I was looking for an apartment in queens in that price range.

What I'm looking for in a roommate:
-Someone who is clean, quiet, and considerate of others
-I'm looking for a female roommate only please, since I am female also
-Sorry, no couples
-Someone who will pay the rent and utilities on time
good idea to say 'no couples'

good luck
