I'm considering to move to Queens after living on LI for my entire life. I'm in my mid-20s and would preferably like to move to a place with a sizable young population. On LI I feel like I'm the only young person here, no friends, nothing, so I feel a move should be in place.

I work in Plainview (eastern nassau) so I don't want to go so far west into the city, but some part of eastern Queens I think might do. Any suggestions?

I think Astoria would be too far. Thanks

what is your budget? You may also like Forest Hills, LIC, Woodside/Sunnyside Jackson Heights.

Yes your budget means a lot bc a lot of areas of Queens have different rents.....

For a young population with some bars and nightlife, check out Forest Hills, Bayside, Flushing, and yes Astoria is great but probably too far for you.

What budget would you like to work with?

And I have to ask you this but what is your ethnicity? Queens can be very racially/ethnically segregated and most people seem to feel more comfortable being around some people who share the same ethnicity..

Default Consider the Bronx

Though, you may be the only Anglo in the 'hood. I am; don't bother me.

I once lived in Plainview. UGH. Nothing but dull, bigoted Wonder Bread white people.

Ok, my budget is less than $900 dollars a month - whether a small studio apt or an apartment share, I'm not really picky here. My concern is location.

I'm ethnically white and not averse to different colored folk, but I would prefer not to be a minority either if I can help it. Thanks

PS: I heard Bayside was very suburban feeling...I'm trying to get away from that sort of thing.

I commute from Astoria to RVC its definitely doable with the reverse commute. The Whitestone and Cross Island fly in the morning and afternoons.. but not sure how it is going east on the Grand Central or LIE past there.

Id look into Forest Hills or Kew Gardens.. at least you still have access to the subways and lirr.
