Hey, if the price is right, I'll do it! I've never been convicted of a crime, good credit, have my own transportation, awesome references and I can cook very well! :-)

I don't want any strangers touching my stuff. or trying to clean it or cook for me. and I have a pretty large home.
OP maybe you should stop trying to fit in so much and be yourself. It seems like the snobbiness in your building will also rub off on you just because you want to "fit in". you sound like a HS girl.

Hey, if she's got the money, why not at least spend it employing someone?

We do have a floor that is supposed to be rare and costly - some black wood. I don't have the details yet.

People like to be accepted no matter where they are. It's human nature. I don't have any idea if these neighbors will be snobs. I look forward to meeting them as it seems as though we will be seeing each other way more than I see members of my current community. Every morning there are coffee and rolls served in the lobby and people chat before going to work or their daily escorted jog (or walk for older folk such as we).

People get a certain age when it gets more and more difficult to keep up with the housekeeping. I worked with a fellow in his 30's who preferred spending his spare time having fun and not cleaning his apartment. I guess it's a matter of personnel taste and affordability.

Yes it will be strange, I am sure, for a while; having some stranger with us for so long, but it will probably feel equally odd to her.

If you read the post, the OP stated that she is an older person, a retiree, hardly a high school girl. It's not so easy to keep your place clean or handle household chores when you are older. The OP has the means and lived frugally during her younger years. Let her enjoy her retirement. Also, she is providing a paying job for someone who needs it!

I meant HS girl in the sense that she feels that she has to "fit in" and do what her neighbors are doing. not age wise.
I also said I don't want anyone touching my belongings. You would be surprised what people do when they think you are not looking. and I say that from working at a hospital, so I can only imagine in my home when they are alone.
I like my things a certain way and like to cook my own food.
As for the OP that is great that she is at a point in life where she can kick back relax and enjoy life.
I admire your success.

That's exactly what went through my mind when I read this.

Please, OP, be yourself! If people don't like you for who you are, they are not worth your time and energy.

Thank you.
Well, success is a nice word, but we are aware of people who work hard all their lives and never get anywhere. Others, it seems, just fall into good fortune. I think a lot is luck, but also I have a superstition (if you wish to call it that) that if an individual really applies himself and applies the logic and brains that he is given, sometimes he can influence luck to come his way.
One of the biggest gifts you can give your kids is to start saving, and investing - if you know anything about it - when they are young.
