Hello,
I've lived in Astoria queens with my girlfriend for the past year with a job in Garden City, Long island. Our lease is up and she wants to move out of our current apartment to somewhere new. She works in the city and takes the train down to west 4th, i drive an hour to long island. I'm looking for someplace that's priced between 1300-1500 a month for the two of us, is reasonably close to a train station and has decent street parking. I'd also like to keep my commute time the same or shorter then it is now.
We've been looking in astoria but I think we may need to expand. Does anyone have any other neighborhood areas or suggestions?
Kew Gardens is the ideal location for you. The subway is right there and so is access to Long Island--Garden City is maybe 30 minutes away, tops. Parking can be a bit difficult but try to look on the west bound side of the LIRR station on Austin Street and it's not bad. The rents are exactly in your range and it's a great place to live.
