Yes, I know, If you read another post from me later on in this thread, I made it clearer that that was the plan...to share, I cannot afford a place by myself, ha, that's not my intent. Sorry for the confusion.

If you're coming with 8k and have a place to stay for free until you get on your feet, then by all means go for it. Head out to Queens (I highly recommend Sunnyside), find a roomie (should be very easy if you're female), pay a few months in advance and then you're golden for at least a little while until you can get some money coming in. If you could extend your stay with your cousins that would be even better so you could just add to your initial 8k without any living expenses.

Thanks for the input! I actually decided I'm gonna stay with my cousin and his fam until I get my feet on the ground...I'm taking a visit to the city in two weeks for an interview, applying to some other places, and to look at some places in Astoria for apartments
