Jcoltrane..I am not sure what you mean by more ghetto nonsense, and your Jesus comment was strange. Nobody has been saying anything about the ghetto over the past 60 years which hasn't been said about the ghetto 60 years before that....so it isn't anything new...except that the color of the people has changed.
I am happy to change the record, the problem is until the owner of the stereo allows us to change it, nothing ever will. That is, until our system changes from capitalism at all costs, large segments of our society will remain largely unequal, segregated, and "ghettoized."
It is a little sick when you sit there video taping with your phone to post on some site instead of helping the victim or calling 911.
There was one where there was an after school fight and one child is video taping the other one get beat up and hit with a stick you can actually hear him saying "oh s%#t he's going to hit him with a pipe" sadly the one getting beat up died.
sickening
Someone did try to help the victims in that video...and look what happened to him. If he had been caught calling police, he might have been killed on the spot instead.
Klato the reality is the thug culture is not highly admired, it is something that people must adapt at various levels in order to survive...there's a big difference. There are very few dummies who admire the thug culture, the vast majority however are stuck living around it and don't want anything to do with it.
But you are right, the hip hop icons do not want to live in the hood again..for all they talk about the hood, they never step foot in it again once they make their money. Funny ay? If all these people from the hood came back and invested 20% of their multimillions into building affordable homes, helping people take care of their communities, and providing resources for education, the 'hood would be a very different place.
I agree the thug culture is not highly admired, I find it disgusting and appauling, sadly a few people admire thug culture from the streets of Atlanta and Miami to the slummish projects of South BRonx and Brooklyn to the steps of Baptists churches. I agree, people like Jay z for example should invest in Brooklyn instead of investing in Knicks and Nets. Good point sobroguy.
One of the students in the school I work at was watching this and it just seems as if videos like this are getting posted more and more often on these sites are public for everyone to see and that are watched by kids of all ages...
All videos like these do is promote a violent culture that has continued to wreak havoc on areas like these for decades... why is this website even allowed to post this???
Because that's whats cool these days among these attention-starved kids. There was even a white russian kid filming the Brighton Beach shooting and he kept saying "Yo Worldstarhiphop!" in the camera. It's just a sign of the times, not much you can do man.
2. Violent crime has gone down in the 20-25 years or so that video games with their violence became popular, so the argument that watching fights on the internet makes people go out and punch other people is bogus.
That only proves that video games don't cause real-life violence, it doesn't prove that being subjected to videos of real-life violence doesn't cause real-life violence.
I don't want "big brother" policing the internet any more than the next guy, but being that it involves minors, it probably should be pulled. If two guys of adult age want to go at it and have an all night slug fest and put it on the internet, then by all means...but do we really need to see videos of school-age children kicking the hell out of each other to uphold free speech?
