And since I don't care for any of that crap: city life > suburban life. At least in the city you're not expected to pretend to care about any of your neighbors. Unlike the suburbs, where you are REQUIRED to socialize with every single piece of **** you meet. I hate the suburbs and the garbage that comes from them.
Okay, so I guess if you're an unfriendly nasty hermit- the city works best. Except perhaps for all the people around you.

If you value little league teams, community parks, cars, quality schools, safety, trampolines... well then it may very well be much more idealistic than urban living.
You do realize all that can be had within the bounds of NYC, don't you?
You really need to be a little more specific, 'Manhattan like' is rather vague. I for one have no specific idea of what you mean.
Also, price points, tolerence for taxes, etc.
If the number of people that haved moved from Manhattan, try towns in Essex county, NJ; the Nyacks in Westchester, any number of towns along the Hudson, Greenwhich, CT, and there is Bergen County, NJ. The choice depends on who and what you are.
