I'm going to be in town with my dad, celebrating his 60th b-day in a few months. I want to take him out for a really, really special meal. I've made reservations at Daniel but have never been there. If you had to pick a spot for a memorable NYC autumn dinner where would you choose? Has anyone ever actually been to Daniel? It looks amazing but am curious to know.

We really enjoyed Aquavit. And I don't even like seafood.

If you are willing to fork out for it, Daniel is perfect for what you want to do. The food is wonderful, the service is fantastic (extremely professional, but warm and not at all snooty) and the setting is beautiful. For something like this - a treat for your father's sixtieth birthday - I don't think you can go wrong with daniel. My wife and I went there about a year ago just before our first baby was born and it was one of those meals that we will always remember. Enjoy!
