We long-time WTC employees used to have casual conversations about how "they" would attack the next time. I thought it would be a truck bomb, but the woman who sat next to me always said, "Next time they'll fly a kamikaze plane loaded with bombs into us." Another guy thought they'd use a cargo plane with explosives, like a FedEx plane. They were closer in their guesses, anyway, and both of them survived that day to say "I told you it would be a plane".
Now I think new attempts will be bus/train bombs, similar to what the subway bomber was planning.
I dont think NYC will be attacked, maybe a city like Seattle or Houston, no where the planes left from because people in Boston, New York, Waashington, and Philly (due to its close Proximity) are more weary than other cities. San Fran and LA lost many people cause those where the destintions for the planes.

Quite the contrary; I think New York has never come off the high-profile target list. Last time, they went for an iconic structure called World Trade Center. We've still got things like the Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building and Brooklyn Bridge as targets (just to select three out of many!) And, to be perfectly honest, we've been just plain lucky not to have had actual attacks involving the subway.
I wouldn't like to see the city descend into outright paranoia, but on the other hand, neither should we let our guard down.

Lucky that his imam was a police informant and lucky that the fertilizer companies are required to report large orders to the FBI.
I agree with you that we shouldn't be running on paranoia. I don't think most people are, though.
