Ok so he is using $30 million of his own money to make a difference and change the lives of the inner city black and hispanic males, and the reponses we received on city-data are:

Positives
-that's pretty cool.

Negatives
-he is trying to win back public appeal
-it's just going to a quota system/waste
-$30M is a pittance compared to how he's used his position to enrich himself
-it's racist because it says black and hispanic males can't be good fathers
-should have been done years ago/too late now

Nuetral I guess
-i'm starting to hate him less

My thoughts:
Alot of you are ridiculous and just complainers. You are damned for giving money and trying to make a difference, and your damned when you don't. If someone randomly gave you $100 bucks, you would simply complain that they ONLY gave you $100, or that they should have been giving you $100 for years now, instead of a damn thank you! I am glad I don't live in your worlds.

He will probably receive some sort of tax write off. My philosophy when it comes to humans is "Don't expect anything from them."

it's like an aunt or uncle saying they love their kid nephews by buying them a puppy.

guess who is going to be cleaning up after it, and buying it food.

Why is it only Blacks and Spanish. How about everyone else? What about Asians who are 1st generation? This is the BS. This country never gives damn about anyone else. Asians come here, live here inpoverty and struggle. They work hard. They could use a break to get a head. F-ing BS, I am disgusted by this crap.

This is only one example. He's given away enormous sums to all sorts of organizations. Once he's retired he'll probably start giving away even more. It's the only thing you can really do with that kind of money. It's simply too much to ever spend on "things."

Bloomberg to spend millions of his money to help black, Latino males - CNN

But let's not forget, he hates poor people, especially those brown and black ones, right?

But the article says the city is putting in $67.5 million which means taxpayers are contributing more than Bloomberg and Soros combined. Nice. Bloomberg gets good press, which he hasn't had much of lately, and obligates the city to pay more than twice what it cost him for a social band aid.

When Bloomberg first became mayor I was impressed with his giving because he did it quietly. Many of his grants carried the stipulation that the benefactor not be revealed. It is amazing what the desire to be well remembered can do to a persons ethics. When he finally leaves office, we may sigh with relief but we may also have to deal with about 20 years of him doing his best Ebeneezer.

There are still some few good humans (Homo Sapiens) around.

Bloombergs little grand daughter says: Oh, I saw from the car window a disabled young black man in a wheelchair begging on 110th street, I feel sorry for him. Bloomberg: Don't worry about a thing little precious I just gave him 30 million, next time just close your eyes.

30 million to him is probably what 1 dollar is to most of us. Am I supposed to be impressed? It's nice I guess, but I can't see this being a reason why someone might drastically change their opinion of him.

And what is the $30 million going for? A quota system. That's all it really is.
My thoughts exactly.

I honestly don't have a problem with him as a mayor, per se. However, I do believe he will be known as a notorious mayor of the city once he's out. What I don't like though is . . . sympathy. Hear me out. I think this whole thing is just that. A nice publicity 'write up' to show he 'cares for the poor'. Shocker. What about other ethnicities, in the city, struggling? Do they not qualify? Why not just put the money into the city systems as a whole? How can you help someone/people, in the education/justice system, if they don't want to do the required work? Your money will not be able to force people to read, complete homework, stop joining gangs/committing crimes, etc. I just feel like you're looking at it from a totally different perspective. Which is your right/opinion, but you can't judge how other people are feeling about this.

Regardless, I'm neutral about the situation. It'll benefit (hopefully) for those who will take this seriously. Best of luck to them.

On the other hand, you support Bloomberg as though you were on his payroll. You accuse everyone else of hating the Mayor, but you're every bit as biased in the other direction.
