You guys do know that DOE intentionally marks these 'Specialized HSs' so they can target Asians right? Their thinking is, by targeting Asians to isolation, they will not be able to have the upward mobility socially to surpass whites.
They need to replicate all the schools that are doing well, like many of those in District 2 in Man. If something is working, replicate it rather than starting up all these small schools sharing space in one building. I'm thinking of high schools like Lab, Eleanor Roosevelt, Baruch, Millenium, Beacon and Bard. Even build a second Laguardia and a second Stuy. They have already replicated Bard and Millenium with much success.
It has to do with genetics. African Americans who were enslaved were always rebellious and had to rob to survive. They built up anger inside and transitioning nowadays, you see most of them dont follow rules, engage in crime, etc. So really, slavery had messed them up
Really? So how do you explain me, my brother and the thousands of other black specialized high school graduates who went on to college, grad school and are leading productive lives.
As I've mentioned in other threads, the phenomenon of low educational performance among blacks in NYC has escalated within the past 15-20 years.
Prior to that NYC graduated lots of talented black students, not all of whom attended specialized high schools because, then, the local community high schools were very good too. And, you had great voc/tech education that prepared people for work if they chose not to attend college.
You need to get outside your bubble.

Because most of the high schools suck in NYC. Sheepshead is about to close soon and Dewey is in danger of closing. I went to Dewey and that time, it was a good school. This was about 5 years ago.
He is also trying to expand wall street into the times square area, which would result in removing the lighted sign clutter that tourists like.
Turned times square into more skyscrapers and cleaning it up would reduce some amounts of clutter, which will be nice for the nyc residents but I'm sure some people have an issue with the whole plan.
Bloomberg has designs on playing to his buddies to keep pillaging the public by divvying them out to his cronies for private enterprises. If you look into all these contracts that are involved in city functions they are over-run and raping the coiffeurs wringing them dry.

Exactly. Grover Cleveland [my old HS] was decent when I went, and now it has gone down the toilet.
