I saw it on TV and while people did show up, the parade was hindered by the rain. Everything seemed quiet, at least I have not heard of anything that went on either in the parade or at the festival.

What a stupid question. I am not sure if you know but you do realize that uptown Manhattan has the highest concentration of Dominicans anywhere in the city? Last I checked Manhattan doesn't stop at 96th street.

It would be like me saying, "Oh why do these wall street guys work in Manhattan? Why don't they work in CT or NJ where most of them live?

LES is still only about 22% according to the latest census the rest being majority hispanic and black so I would think that there's still a good amount of dominican people there...

Add Woodhaven, Queens and parts of Cypress Hills and Bushwick in Brooklyn. As for Dominican post-parade parties, they're held in mostly every Dominican community in NY and even New Jersey. However, the biggest and most notorious tend to be held in the mecca of Dominicans in NYC, Washington Heights.
