I signed a lease. My apartment smells really bad. It is making me sick. All management has done is vacuum and cover up the stench with another scent. I seem to be the only one bothered by the smell on my floor. The odor was definitely covered up the day I went to see it. I want out. What are my options? Can I sublease it to someone else?
The neighbors are slobs.there are cockroaches in my apartment and I have no food in it. I am also a very clean personand I do not want pesticides in my apartment.
Who said its bad? Do it. Advise your landlord that you find the apartment unhabitable, and ask to be let out of the lease. If he agrees ask for a signed 'Release'. You can get a form at any Staples store.
Just do things properly, in writing.
Document your complaints and requests. That is don't just call the LL, put it in writing; or, record you calls, and/or get the phone records of your calls.
Document the Ll's Response and efforts made to address the issue.
If you can get a couple of witnesses of the offensive order.
If I am not able to get out of my lease, is it legal to sublease/sublet?
Read your lease! Sometimes you are allowed to sublet and sometimes you are not -- depends on what the lease says.
Is it possible the smell is coming from the pesticides used to deal with the pest problem?
