The ASPCA vans are cheapest for low-income people, $10 with a welfare or related ID. Lacking that, the fee is $125. They do not do medical care on the vans, but basic shots are included.
For non-low income, the Humane Society is more economical, although immediate appointments can be hard to get. The Humane Society is located just east of Bloomingdale's.
There is a medical van outside the 110th Street CACC on Saturdays (? I think), first-come, first-served kind of thing. The number I had for information: (718) 544-7387. This is not for spay, but for medical treatment.
