I thought the most fascinating part of the whole deal was the Mayor announcing "mandatory evacuation zones," then declaring in the next breath that nobody was going to force you to leave, and you wouldn't be arrested if you stayed.

Apparently, the Mayor has an elevated opinion of his own oratory. If he says for you to do something, you're going to do it. Not only can't he relate to the overwhelming majority of people who call this city home, but he doesn't quite understand that we don't all think he's the be-all and end-all to everything that goes on here.

Lately, I've been thinking that his aspirations reach well beyond City Hall. I do believe that he has notions of running for President dancing around in his head. When he finally announces his intentions, you won't be surprised because you'll have read it here.

Fred, I get it, you despise him and wish he were never born. And people have thought he had aspirations higher than City Hall since he was 19.

I have a problem with the Mayor because Rudy put a ban on the helicopters flying over Brooklyn Heights, Carroll Gardens, Columbia Street and Red Hook to help the citizens of these neighborhoods with good "quality of life", yet Mike Dumberg re-instated these helicopters flying above to make more money....see where I am going with this....

Mayor Dumberg doesn't care about the quality of life for the citizens of these neighborhoods....He just cares about making money for the City. We have Politicians here in brooklyn writing him letters to put a ban on the choppers and he denied it.

Ever go to Brooklyn Bridge Park at Pier 6 and Govenors Island, Valentino Pier in Red Hook and hear theses freaking choppers flying above one after the other after the other after the other......

THEY ARE ANNOYING, and anyone that doesn't think so is nuts......It takes all the serenity of our Parks.

I hate Bloomie for this.

If that's what you think, then you don't get it at all. For some reason, I have problems with a carpetbagger Mayor whose only genuine interest is other ridiculously wealthy people. I'm sure he's a good guy--within his own circles. But as Mayor of a city like New York? The end of his administration cannot come soon enough.

I don't know anything about Quinn, but I will be listening. If I hear the usual Democratic politics of classism, us-vs-them, Union lackies, etc, she won't get my vote. We shall see....no doubt Thompson will be in it, but he will never get my vote.
