I have a dilemma. I need to move out and I found two great places with roommates, but I don't know which one to chose. I'm not very familiar with the areas so I need some advice.
I'm in my mid 20's single with a small dog and enjoy going out. Which neighborhood do you recommend the most, Carroll Gardens or Brooklyn Heights?
The place in Carroll Gardens is 1350 and the one in Brooklyn Heights is 1500? Is there a huge difference in the neighborhoods?
Brooklyn Heights is a great neighborhood. You will not find many trendy places inside the neighborhood since mostly middle age and wealthy yuppies live there, but it is relatively close to all the happening places in Brooklyn. So, if you don't mind not living in the same area you party, that would be a great place.
I'm in brooklyn heights right now visiting, its mostly made up of yuppies of all races and creeds and many are pushing strollers and couples holding hands. The area is very quiet, there is not much going on except a few makeshift irish pubs and gentry restaurants. Many amenities plus the promonade, but as a single young person myself I would not prefer bk heights, as for carrol gardens might be a better choice but I would not prefer it aswell because its also a starting point for yuppie famlies. I knew a ohio transplant who moved to carrol gardens because she was having a baby and her 3000 manhattan ph was too small for her hipster bf and baby.

Carroll Gardens has a lot of cafes and bars and is more funky and interesting. Brooklyn Heights is beautiful but very quiet and residential (lots of 40- and 50-something bankers and lawyers). They try hard to keep nightlife out of the neighborhood.
Given your demographic and interests, I’d go with Carroll Gardens.
Carroll Garden hands-down for your age and place in life. However if commute to work and quick trip into city is higher priority. Then it's all different story depending on what part of city you work in or go to school in. There are areas in brooklyn like carroll garden in terms of lot of things happen like bars, stores, such as North Williamsburg but that place is gettn pretty damn expensive and L line is pretty horrid. Park Slope is also good area. That said, in my opinion all three areas and each area in brooklyn has their distinct feel so pick one you like best.
And yes, brooklyn heights is more expensive area than Carroll garden on overall basis. so is Dumbo, parts of downtown brooklyn, and parts of north williamsburg.
