That's really interesting. I never would have expected to learn this type of thing from City-Data. Are you getting married next year? Sounds like it would be really difficult to stay in the church when followers are so few here. Shunning seems very unfair.
Yea, next yr. Many followers make an effort to stay in the Church by attending annual events and functions. I just felt like I didn;t fit in. I have red hair like a "ginger" and tanned skin with greenish eyes while the rest of the community range in looks. It was fun for while but I had better relationships with folks outside of the community so I just moved on. I met my fiance in college and she happens to be Lebanese. Shunning is unfair but its how the church has been doing it for centuries.
will you be shunned from your family as well or just the church?
Just the Church. My immediate family won;t shun me but some distant relatives may. Not sure because when I announced my intentions, some uncles took me aside and gave a 1000 reason why I shouldn;t. The main one being I am the last line for my dad and mom. Some folks are more conservative and hold onto the past forever.
Wow, what a crazy coincidence here. Had no idea there were Malu's hanging out on here. I'm not Kna, but I am Malayalee, and I'm from the Chicago area and I'm obviously aware that the NY Tri-State area has a huge Malayalee and Knanaya population.
Haha...hey you already know we are everywhere even on the moon lol!
Sicily is a region of Italy, therefore that makes him Italian American. Lol
LOL. Tell that to the people who live in Milan,Venice,Florence,Siena and Genoa.
