Hi All,

I need to go to West St Greenpoint tomorrow night to a filming of a program. I have no idea what the area is like. A brief description would be very much appreciated.
Also anyone suggest a bar for a quick drink if there is in fact one in that area??

I have not ventured to that part of Brooklyn yet

It's very nice; it is a safe area. There are brownstones and trees and such. I'm not much of a drinker; my chosen vice is espresso, and Cafe Grumpy off of McGuinness is good, if coffee will do for you. I may soon be moving there!

Plug the address into yelp and then search for bars or cafes within a 4 block radius.

There are several places to go out and grab a drink on Franklin St. The only one I've been to is on the corner of Franklin and Greenpoint Ave but I can't remember the name. There are also a bunch of places on Manhattan Ave. The area is filled with places to go out for drinks and food. It's a nice neighborhood.

Franklin St is one block east of West St. If you're coming from the G train you'll pass it on your way to West St. Lots of cute shops and bars around there. I like Black Rabbit on Greenpoint Avenue and Pencil Factory on the corner of Franklin and Greenpoint. There used to be a bar called Coco66 that wasn't bad (probably my third or fourth choice around that area) but I think it was closed down by the city a couple months ago.

If you like to read there's a great bookstore called WORD on the corner of Franklin and Milton, one block south of Greenpoint Avenue. Even if you don't like to read, go buy a book there--I want them to stay in business forever.

I think everyone who lives there is a film maker. Lol. Are any of the Polish people left or have they all been pushed out.

Still a substantial amount of Polish and Hispanics but maybe about 40% Hipster/Yuppie now. Definitely a quieter extension of Williamsburg. Nice area, not dangerous at all.

The best sportsbar in the City in my opinion is on the corner of West and Greenpoint Ave, Red Star. Franklin Market on Milton and Franklin has great Puerto Rican grub even though it's a bodega.

There's still a lot of Polish in Greenpoint. I went to a supermarket on Manhattan Avenue there before and all the cashiers were Polish.

Yeah, Greenpoint is still very Polish. It'll stay that way too, they were smart and bought up all the real estate.
