I thought you owned a building and were a landlord. No? How do you qualify for affordable housing if you own a building you live in and collect rents from tenants?
As far as I know, it is automatic disqualified for any property owner. May be someone has some tricks to work around that. We'll never know.
I just went through the process for an affordable housing apt, and they require bank statements, pay stubs, letter confirming salary from employer, W-2s, tax returns, credit check, current lease and rent payment stubs/canceled checks.
It's a very simple process if you are prepared and have your paperwork complete. You must fit in the income restrictions, and be approved both by the developer of the property and the city. I had my interview, it was less than 30 minutes, and we simply went through to confirm all paperwork was complete.
She then advised me a few hours later what apts were available and whether I was interested in moving forward. In then takes about 2-4 weeks for final approval from the city.
Congratulations SobroGuy. Are you leaving south Bronx soon? Wish you can update your profile picture without the housing project in front of your living room window.
SobroGuy is just trying to give advice without giving himself away. SobroGuy is really Mike Bloomberg's pseudonym. . He always has all the info on housing developements and revitalization plans. He always approves of all the Mayors plans, and knows exactly how everything operates in the plan.
While I don't always agree with his opinion, I have to say his info is usually correct.

last year I applied for 1 bedroom apt with my fiancee ( she is in different country things didn't work out , she didn't get the visa and we decided to split, we are no longer together) . I have a Interview friday and if i do it myself as 1 person i would be over the income is there a chance i could still get it if I show proof from immigration that we wanted to get married but it didn't work out, and is it possible i could add my brother to that apt ?
I have concerns about The Lottery in terms of housing and how does it works ?? I'm new on this . What happens if I get selected, and don't qualified do to the income.? Or credit ?
“Danielle’s application was done in an entirely honest, forthcoming manner and any allegation stating otherwise is nothing more than a malicious attack on a dedicated, hardworking New Yorker,” a City Council spokeswoman said.
The lottery was conducted by third-party marketing agents hired by the developer.
An HPD spokesman said that out of 29,610 applications, DeCerbo’s application was picked at No. 728.
Since 48 applicants ahead of her were disqualified for not meeting income requirements, DeCerbo’s lucky number rose up the list and landed her one of the 682 pads."
One takes this to mean that applications are vetted for certain criteria first, those meeting those goals go to the next level and so forth.

Congratulations! Could you share how many months of bank statements were requested and any other specifics. Thank you!
