I remember the basement had a mall with a decent sized food court , and i always begged my mom to bring me there to eat after we go off the PATH or ferry....
Yes, I believe so. Again, tenants would have had it installed if they needed it, and most probably did.
Yes, technology has changed. Not everyone had cell phones that day, either. I didn't get one until December of that year. And most cell phones still did not have cameras.
Hell, most cell phones back then weren't even in color. Green or blue screen.

I have a few memories of the building(s), first time when I was 12 visiting NY for the first time. We didn't get to visit the roof like we planned because of scheduling.
When you entered the South Tower you took escalators up to the lobby where there was a restaurant (maybe 2 my memory is kinda fuzzy) and bar with tables and seating. To the right were another bank of escalators where you'd go down to get to the trains Path Train, but if you walked straight back you could get to the 2/3 trains.
I remember bumping into a friend I worked with years before and every time I'd return to the city I'd look him up but this time I didn't do so immediately and we bumped into each other in the lobby and were excited to see each other.
I worked at the WTC temporarily at a insurance company. I quit the job. This is when I learned about it being tops on the list of NY places to hit. It was an open plan everything looked old including paint color. I don't remember the floor or even the name of the insurance company.
I remember going to Alexander's (I think it was Alexander's) in the back and the bank across from Alexander's, think it was either Chase or Citibank. Then there was a book store nearby but I can't remember the name, Borders maybe?
The Plaza was very peaceful to me, I guess with the fountain and the music made it so.
I missed the first bombing of the WTC while at the stop trying to make a last minute decision on whether to go to the business in the WTC to pay my beeper bill or to pick up my check in mid-town Manhattan. I decided to stay on the train, had I not I would have been one of those people pouring out the building with soot from their nostrils or maybe even worse, since that business was either on the 6th or 8th floor.
I'm trying to find a site for you that has pics of the businesses that were at the WTC.
