Jobs that are hiring are mostly near the projects? (New York: renting, daycare)

This is something anecdotal I have noticed for about the last two years. For my friends and relatives, the only jobs that seem to be hiring in Manhattan are those near the projects. Two friends got a nursing and daycare job directly in front of the Lower East Side projects. Another interviewed for a job that was one block away from the Rutgers project near Canal St. Further north, a relative had a part time education job right smack in the East Harlem projects. And another an administrative position close to the Douglass buildings in the UWS. Is this something other people have noticed who are looking for jobs in Manhattan?
As we all know, as of recently, all businesses in New York have moved next to the projects. Wall Street will move over the bridge next to the Red Hook projects.
The few anecdotes you heard from friends are not coincidences of people who happened to find jobs near housing projects in a city that's riddled with them, it's a statistically relevant fact and, as mentioned, a "recent trend".

Ummmm shouldn't you be glad they were HIRED, instead of worrying about why it's near a project. and so what its near a project.
They are receiving a paycheck! Did you notice all those that will kill for a paycheck these days.

You do know that Wall Street is losing a lot jobs?
This is not about all the jobs in existence being next to projects, but about those are are currently hiring for the average folk. For the most part Manhattan is not riddled with projects except above 96th St.
I don't know where you read me wrong. I concurred that as a "recent trend" all jobs hiring are next to projects. It's statistically irrefutable. I have heard the same things from friends and friends of friends.
I personally only know of 1 person who has gotten a job recently and it is in a school only 3 blocks from a project!
Obviously, anyone looking for employment right now shouldn't even bother to respond to ads unless the place is very close to a project since those are the only places left that are actually hiring.
Wall Street is probably losing jobs because there aren't any projects down there. I'm sure if there was a project nearby they would be hiring.
Projects are the solution to our nation's unemployment problem.
OP, Is the location of a job you are worrying or something else? I don't get it.
There are many new luxury developments right next to housing projects, they are selling and renting. I am sure those jobs near projects will be taken.
I live several blocks above E96th, 5 projects within 5 mins walking distance. I know a bit more about them than many members on this board. Projects are not paradise, but there is no need to avoid them at all cost. No one should turn down a job because it is so close to a project. That is plain silly. Btw, most of those are day time jobs, you will be out of the area before sun down.

I think that's it, people are oversaturating the job positions in the more "affluent" parts of Manhattan and leaving a small void in the surrounding "hoods" even if those are a relatively small area. I work in Queens so its not really an issue to me. However, its very telling that even in this economy a lot people are ignoring Harlem and Lower East Side. Otherwise I wouldn't still be seeing so many open positions for jobs in those neighborhoods that have not been filled for months. I think it goes back to image. People who want to work in Manhattan might also consider the glitz factor and seeing a run down project along their route ruins that.
