We're going to the Yanks/Tigers game tomorrow night from our apt on the UWS. Normally we'd take the subway but we're worried about timing and want to take a cab from the restaurants on Arthur Ave in the Bronx to the game.

Is it pretty easy to get a cab up there or is it typical outer boro no-cabs-land?

Yellow cabs are very rare in that area. There are the gypsy cabs that operate in the area, and you could always call one of the car services that dispatch cabs to your location. All City Car Service operates in the area, and is popular with Fordham's main campus - (718) 402-4747.

Just ask your restauranteur to call a car service to have them pick you up at the restaurant.I do it fairly frequently.

Look up a few local livery cab companies like DAT, Diplo, first class etc. Call one of them to pick you up. Arthur ave varies, sometimes its busier than other times. Getting a street hail might not be easy always. Its easy on fordham road but you might not want to walk to fordham road since your unfamiliar with the area.

Quick tip: get the fare from the dispatcher first, these cab drivers try to gip you sometimes...

There are lots of street cabs (livery/Dominican cabs) that roll through the area for street hails. You shouldn't have a problem finding one.
