my Airline damaged my carry on handle last time, the button that controls the handle came off and the mechanism is partly damaged. their disclaimer says that they don't cover damage to handles. how convenient?

in 2008 i got an Eddie Bauer carry on totaling 52 linear inches for $100 at Target.

now my airline is going to require that a carry on cannot exceed 50 linear inches by 3/1 ( limit is currently 55 inches) or else it has to go in checked luggage

i am in Riverdale I have Marshall's and Target here. I also have a store Amazing Savings that sells carry ons for less but i don't know how the quality is of brands like "Baggo" etc.

I've gotten very good quality luggage at Marshall's before. Good brands, you just can't predict inventory. I wouldn't buy at Target but others might have other opinions.

I found one of those Baggo bags in my aunt's house and asked her where she got it. Someone gave it to her, and I think it was from one of the stores on Broadway. It made a trip, and it was a one-way trip, since the handle gave way somewhere in China, but I think it had been used a couple of times on the train before that trip.

Innovation has always had a decent selection of luggage, but that would require a trip to Central Avenue, unless you wanted to go to Manhattan. When they have items on sale, they're not bad values, either. If you really didn't mind a trek all the way downtown, I would recommend J&R as they have a complete luggage department on Park Row.

Marshalls could have a good option, but bring your tape measure with you, since there would be no sales personnel who could help you ensure that the carry on would meet the more stringent requirements. Target's items are probably not bad for the price point, but I don't know that they would hold up as well as other bags at similar price points, such as Delsey or Samsonite, that you may get at a sale price at Innovation, for example.

If you're going after Thanksgiving (and if you can stand the Black Friday crowd), Macy's has some really great deals on luggage. I know they have a Macy's in the Bronx but I keep forgetting where, but I'm sure it's not so far from Riverdale. I've been using this carry-on from Kipling for a while now, never had a problem!

Good deal! I have yet to have a Samsonite fail from normal use.
