This will forever be one of the banes of urban life. From the iron bladder super humans who don't see anything wrong with shutting them all down or charging money (can anyone critically think this through please?), to the whiners with the quart deposit every half hour habit. The fact is humans have to go when they have to go. Children too (yes, they should learn the hard way like we all do, s crew your little brat). Seriously, municipalities need to step up their game in many locales I'm sure. Maybe that's why many park fountains don't work. Besides the fact that people shouldn't have need of water at odd moments. Silly humans. P iss tax anyone?
NYC should make urinal kiosks like they always plan on doing. The problem is that there are a group of people that can't control their need to destroy, deface, etc. Starbucks is a private company so it should not be responsible for the bathroom needs of the entire public.

Sometimes I'll go in a restaurant and catch the guys eye behind the counter, then conspicuously put a buck in the tip jar..."Mind if I use the toilet?"
They're the one's who have to clean the things. I expect to get paid, why not them?
So, apparently, some women don't sit on the seats when they're urinating.

Of course not! That is Restroom 101 for girls and women. Do guys really think we sit on those things? Eccchhhhh!!! I am always mystified at how a guy doesn't mind lifting up a seat in a public restroom. I wouldn't want to touch that.
Women always hover to pee in public toilets. If we do need to sit (ahem), we put a ton of toilet paper or several seat covers on the seat first. But you gotta put at least three layers over the entire thing. That can be problematic if it's a toilet with a sensor. It reads you standing there, layering on the TP, and then the moment when you start to pull down your pants, it flushes! And either gets the TP wet or sucks the seat covers down with the flush. So there you are, butt in the air, and you have to paper the seat all over again. My trick? Drape a piece of TP over the sensor eye. If a toilet looks pretty clean and hovering might be uncomfortable (height of the toilet, nowhere to hold on, can't relax enough in that position to void the bladder, clothing complicates it, etc.), but there's no time to paper the seat, one can ball one hand into a fist, put the fist on the seat (not the palm), and sit one cheek on that. Then make sure to wipe with the other hand, and to sanitize and wash that hand thoroughly. And of course we use a foot to flush!
And then you kick the seat cover toilet paper on the floor...yeah I know.
Eww, no, the seat cover has a thingie that hangs down into the toilet. When you flush, it automatically sucks down the seat cover. If you have enough TP on the seat, it does the same thing. Or just scoot it in. Kicking it onto the floor is an extra, unneeded step.
