Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade advice

i remember the last time I actually went to see the parade physically...7 years ago, on 34th & 6th, right in front of Gap and i was struggling to just look over. it's hard to get a view. They pretty much block the who view and you are so much better off watching it on TV, hence all the commercials and cut offs.
