Interesting story in the NY Times this week about a REAL NY personality.

Despite the image that gets conjured up in most people's minds (especially transplants ,visitors and other out of towners) about what a real NY'er is and looks like,people like this are the real thing.They may be tucked away in strange, often unheard of neighborhoods in the "outer" boroughs and overlooked by all who are interested only in the latest thing but this is the real thing !

You have to really look or you will miss them as you almost run over them with your shopping cart because you won't recognize them in the supermarket.

that first pic you see on the page of the lady, her quote :
