Would it be an ideal spot for a date?

I have never been to NYC/Brooklyn and my boyfriend wants to take me there on a date and to hang out.

I have been reading online some people say it's bad others says it's decent and others claim it's a great mall to shop at. Is the surrounding area ghetto?

Is Queens Center Mall any better?
Thanks for any suggestions.

QUeens Center Mall is the largest mall in Queens and New York City. Owned by Macerich, the mall has a gross leasable area of 966,499 square feet (89,790.7 m2)[2] and 150 stores.[citation needed] It is one of the most profitable malls per square foot in the United States, with 2002 sales of $953 per square foot, almost triple the national average. - Wikipedia

QUeens center is filled to the brim with immigrants. It's a great representation of New York City minus the hipsters/tourists.

The surrounding area is not ghetto. As for being an ideal place for a date, I dont think a mall is the greatest place for that, unless you're a teenager.

It depends on the time of day you go. Afterschool its a little rowdy, but evenings during the week is cool. Of course weekends are a litle crazy too but really wouldn't call it ghetto.

You have to pay to park there? I never heard of that in my life, that's ridiculous!

Most people I know think it's very ghetto. That's why a lot of people from Brooklyn come to the SI Mall. I have only been there once, and don't really remember it being that bad but that was a long time ago.

I agree SeventhFloor. After-school gets the rowdy kids, And weekends as well. I worked there for 7 years..Avoid Burger King and McDonalds in there. Used to see lots of fights, Some got pretty bad. Weekday evenings are calm.

Boy, This brings back memories. I worked right during the renovation in 2000. I remember the carousel and video arcade from back in the day as my grandma took me every week, Even before working their as an adult. The mall was always a little rowdy at times. I rarely go now unless to pickup a quick shirt/tie for work. To me, it's like a fun ex-girlfriend that I try to avoid seeing.
