I wonder if the opposite is more likely, people who have never left Manhattan basically—although that might be less likely now with Brooklyn getting trendy.
I know in DC area there’s people thatve never been to NE DC and the city is a lot smaller.

Used to be people never left their neighborhoods except to go to a Yankees or Mets game. But there was never any way to avoid having to go to Manhattan on occasion for certain city services because that's where everything is centralized
Yes, I met this person on Rockaway beach once a long time ago. He was talking to me and I ended up asking him about how long it takes to get into NYC by subway. He said he never been to NYC before. I couldn't believe someone who lives in Rockway beach area never been to Manhattan.
The reverse is also true and I'm definitely guilty of it.
Me too. I've been to more places in the outer boroughs the last 5-6 years carting my daughters around to soccer games, parties, and random get-togethers than I did the 25 years beforehand. Before the girls it was the airports in Queens, Mandolin Brothers (RIP) and the Museum of Tibetan Art on Staten Island, had some friends in Riverdale in the '90s who moved away, and that was about it.
I have not been to upper Manhattan in decades and have no desire to go there. It may as well be another planet. What is there waiting for me except crime and drugs?
Me! Never been. Although, I have friends who live there & have been invited but they always come to Manhattan.
Alright. I know you like to go on your treks. When the weather warms up, take the ferry to Staten Island. Set your alarm and go for an hour walk around the area by the Ferry. Then treat yourself to a sweet treat before you get back on the ferry to go home.
