TRue not only that but Soundview and East NY is a bit of a distance from Manhattan. Mott Haven has some gentrification compared to no gentrification in Soundview or East NY, those areas suck.

So true. The other day I read the NYT and there was an article about NYC Mexicans and the lack of education and less likely to excel in city schools. Mott Haven as a huge Mexican population and I can imagine the high rate of high school drop outs becuase one has to work or because of teen pregnancy which is high amongts Mexican teens in Mott Haven.

They move to places where they can afford to live.

Actually I think that only people that work for the city should be allowed to live in NYCHA. But thats another topic.

I'm pretty sure Mott Haven is predominately Puerto Rican is it?

Yea... Bronxguyanese continues to downplay the still overwhelming amount of Puerto Ricans in the area... I think that after East Harlem it is probably #2 or #3 in NYC in terms of percentage of Puerto Ricans... No question that a number of them are moving out and Mexicans and Dominicans are moving into the Bronx in general, but the PR presence is still very high in the Bronx and in Mott Haven and easily makes it presence felt moreso in this borough than in any other one by far...

See this is what I hate about some posters here. Talking out of their rectum without knowing. Let me let you in on a little secret.

Mott Haven has:

A higher murder rate than East NY, and a much higher murder rate than Soundview.

Higher robbery rates than both East NY and Soundview.

Higher rape rates than both East NY and Soundview.

Higher felony assault rates than both East NY and Soundview.

At it's worse it was worse than East NY and Soundview at their worst.

Much higher poverty rate than East NY and Soundview.

Higher Aids rate than both East NY and Soundview.

And probably more project dense than both East NY and Soundview.

The only neighborhoods than are in Mott Havens league are Brownsville and Hunts Point. Nothing else is even close.

Mott Haven is everything that is wrong with NYC. The ghetto mentality overwhelms that poor pathetic little neighborhood.

Now, let me ask you ..why oh why did you say those neighborhoods are worse than Mott Haven? You could have at least said Brownsville.

When people write without knowing...it depresses me.

I need a drink.
