Agree, Kefir. Woody's love letter to Manhattan is "Manhattan" and my favorite city movie.

Ordinarily I don't care for Woody Allen movies but the Piano rendition of Gershwin's RHAPSODY IN BLUE from Manhattan is one of the best ever. In my opinion R.I.B is one of the greatest pieces of music ever and every time I hear it in my mind I see NYC in various cycles during a 24 hour period. I wonder if NYC street scenes were the actual inspiration for his composition? Any music historians know?

I just thought I'd mention some favorite NYC movies:

Midnight Cowboy (the way Times Square used to be)
Wall Street
Smithereens
Mean Streets
Do the Right Thing

and of course West Side Story!!

One of my favorite NYC movies of all time is when Harry met Sally. Aswell as Fort Apache The Bronx for its grit. Moscow on the Hudson, Money Train, taking the Pelham 123 the original. As for my favorite cyber punk filmed in NYC is Hackers, my Favorite Dyostopian movie about NYC is escape from New York. I also like Gangs of NEw York a scorcse flick based on rival gangs of mid 19th century NYC. Wait I cant forget Annie Hall, and oh yeah Tootsie with Dustin Hoffman. Scent of a woman with Pacino and Chris Odonnell. Wait a min whats that movie with that black guy who was a martial artists and his name waS Leroy and his parents owned a Black PIzza shop?
