hi everyone so im from staten island and live in nj. Im going to college for radiology technology (xray tech). By 21 i want to move back to ny and work in nyc hospitals. Well can anyone tell me how much they make in new york city and taxes. Im getting an apartment in brooklyn with my neighbor since her dad owns two homes in brooklyn. Rent for 2 bedroom is around $1300. Well can someone who moved to brooklyn and lived with roommate give me an idea how much they payed for food, utilities (phone, tv, internet, etc) and car insurance and payments? Also how much did you make after taxes just to see how much i need. Thank you!
Depending where you will be in Brooklyn, I would recommend dropping the car. It's unnecessary in most parts of the city and the absence of the car will save you money.
You can try a site like monster.com to get salary examples.
Food depends on cooking or eating out and how much/what you eat. I would say on average budget maybe $400 to be comfortable.
Utilities (gas and electric) you should budget ~$100
Phone/TV/Internet will be around $100
Metrocard $104
Insurance? Student loans? Think about what miscellaneous you might have when you build your budget as well.
